Hey everyone, I’m Sophie and I’m the leader of 5th Kew Brownies. I will be the First Aider for the team this year!
When I’m not planning activities for Brownies I am working in Year 2 at an independent school in Kew Gardens whilst finishing my BA (hons) in Early Years and Teaching (I’m supposed to be off the radar at the moment, writing my dissertation🙈🙈).
I have been a Brownie leader for 4 years, stepping in when the unit was threatened with closure. I enjoyed being a Brownie myself and I have such great memories growing up with fun imaginative leaders, that the thought inspired me to participate myself.
Through Guiding I have been lucky enough to have gained some amazing memories, we get to go on trips together creating bonds and friendships hopefully remembered by all. My favourite Guiding memory has to be our annual pack sleepover at Magic and Mayhem in a circus big top; it is always such a great experience.
Obviously the whole GOLD experience is really exciting (and a little nerve wracking!) I am keen on supporting this international Guiding initiative through sharing my knowledge of first aid and safeguarding with the wonderful women in Rwanda. I’m really looking forward to visiting new places, meeting new people, learning new things and experiencing the Rwandan way of life.
I think you will agree it will be a tremendous experience and I will have some amazing and inspiring stories to tell my pack when I return! I’m almost certain I will miss home but to bring me some comfort I’m packing some veggie Percy Pigs and Colin the Caterpillars, because why not? They’re my favourites!

Only one more team member to meet. Keep you eyes peeled for her blog next week!!
