Introducing…. Dodo

It’s time to meet Dodo, the team leader for GOLD this year!

Dodo is 26 and she has been a guide for 2 years. Initially, she was part of a mentoring programme called 12+ which AGR were in partnership with. This is where Dodo first heard about guiding and learnt about WAGGGS. It was something that she was interested in and so decided to become a Guide. She has felt very welcomed into the guiding community and it feels like home to her now! She is very proud to call guiding her extended family full of lots of sisters.

Her favourite moments in guiding so far are attending camp every year but most of all having the opportunity to spend time with two GOLD teams! This is Dodo’s second GOLD project as she worked with the team last year too.

Dodo enjoys making people laugh and really likes her music. She has been our GOLD team DJ on the buses throughout the trip and made it so much fun. Dodo’s favourite colour is green, she loves cows because she likes to drink milk and her favourite food is fruit – she especially likes bananas and kasava. Most of all, Dodo’s passion is to help people. We have certainly appreciated all of her help during the last couple of weeks, it’s been amazing!

Her degree is in education and she is currently looking forward to finding a job which encompasses her love for working with children as well as travelling around. Currently she is volunteering as the leader for the distribution of the Ninyampinga magazine in her district.

Dodo would really like to be able to travel to a country without discrimination and somewhere that she can practice her English and has the UK in her sights – she has heard a lot about it and would like to see more.

Now you have met the GOLD team and can see the amazing young women we have been working with throughout our project. They have all been fantastic and we really will miss them when we are back in the UK!
