Hills, Hills and More Hills!

An early start for us this morning as we ventured to the Norhern Province for the first time. Unfortunately, the bus was slightly delayed but we got on it and it took just less than four hours to arrive at the school where we were training.

The session was based on leadership skills and communication. We had our biggest session so far today with just less than 80 girls attending. We split them into three groups and ran the same activities simultaneously with each group.

We played a game where the girls had to pass an action along the line and see how things change (a moving version of Chinese whispers!) They all found it so funny to see how different it became at the end compared to the start. Once they could see the importance of concentration we repeated the activity and saw the girls accuracy improve!

We followed this up with another chair circle and follow the leader trail as they went down so well in our previous session.

The girls then discussed what it means to be part of a team. What qualities help teams to grow, where do you find teams and how woud you want to team mates to act. The girls had some interesting ideas and it was obvious that they do a lot of teamwork throughout in many aspects of their life.

As a treat, the GOLD team took us to the beach at Lake Kivu. They wanted to show us one of their favourite places to visit. It was a lovely relaxed afternoon before an even longer journey back.

We arrived back following an almost five hour bus journey and decided that we would order takeaway pizza! It was delivered by motorbike and was just what we needed, amazing and super super delicious.
