Yesterday was a very long day of travelling. It started with a 6am wake up call to get ready for our transfer to the airport.
All checked in with our 9 bags we then headed through security to get some breakfast and snacks for the journey. We headed to Gate 10 where we managed to get a snap before the flight.

Unfortunately, the flight was an hour and a half delayed but, as you can see, we were very excited to see the huge selection of films and music on our in-flight entertainment. It certainly helped us to pass the time! We settled down with our headphones and arrived in Istanbul six hours later.

Due to the delay we only had 15 minutes to get our connection, luckily it was the gate next door. A quick sprint and we made it to our seats in time for a further six hour flight to Kigali.

We arrived!!!! Slightly later than planned but pleasantly surprised by the breeze and lovely cool early hours of the morning, a stark contrast to the heatwave in the UK. We were all so pleased to see the weather like this given our travels the day before!
A small amount of sleep only through the night but then a slightly more relaxed day of exploring and heading to the local supermarket ‘Simba’. We found some lovely mango juice and enough supplies to get us through until tomorrow when we are hoping to head to the national camp with the Rwandan Girl Guides.

We hope to keep you up to date as much as possible throughout the trip! As always, keep your eyes peeled.
